The village of Le Grand-Bornand

This authentic village of Haute-Savoie located at the foot of the Col de la Colombière and the Col des Annes is an invitation to discover the heritage of the region. The station of Grand-Bornand Chinaillon

Between the Bornes mountain range and the Aravis Chain, the Grand-Bornand is a typical Savoyard village which has retained its mountain village atmosphere around its church, its covered market and its small stores. A few kilometers above the village, the Grand-Bornand Chinaillon ski resort is one of the Aravis resorts. It developed around the old village and its 17th century farms. In the hamlets there are chapels and many traditional wooden chalets. Hikers' paradise in summer, the resort of Grand-Bornand Chinaillon is equipped with 29 ski lifts for winter sports. 90 kilometers of slopes are partly accessible from the resort, partly from the village of Grand-Bornand. The ski area extends over the Joyère plateau, accessible by gondola and ideal for beginners, the Rosay plateau and its slopes of different levels, the Chinaillon family sector, and the Maroly valley which gives access to the Snow Park Grand Bo. 80 kilometers of Nordic ski runs from there to La Clusaz. 

An altitude life in summer and winter alike

2 possibilities : 1000 or 1300 meters high, chose between the villages of le Grand Bornand or le Grand-Bornand Chinaillon. The first one is a typical Haute-Savoie village with its lovely place, its grenette (former grain market) which now houses the market with delicious local products, its church and pretty paved streets. The village is dynamic and lively, counting 2,000 inhabitants. For ski enthusiasts, those who like to put on skis and go immediately on the 79 kilometers of slopes, Le Grand-Bornand Chinaillon, on the road to Col de la Colombière, is the ideal place to acquire a residence, 7 km away from the village. In winter, Le Grand-Bornand offers ski under all its forms: alpine ski, cross-country ski, Nordic ski, cross-country ski, as well as new winter sports (parets, yooner and snooc, Bikeski, fatbike ...), that you xan even practise by night on Tuesdays. Le Grand-Bornand has the reputation of birthing champions, they are numerous Bornandins competing in World competitions and coming back with medals. No pause for the dynamism of Grand-Bornand, its mountains are at the heart of sports and cultural news, the future Biathlon World Cup and the charity event "Glisse au cœur" - 24h non-stop ski and concerts - are eagerly awaited by locals and visitors in the resort. In fine weather, the mountains of Grand-Bornand are a huge area for a multitude of activities: hiking, walking or biking, flights in the air to fly over the Aravis range...
