The origins of Les Saisies

Les Saisies is a family resort-village located at 1650 meters above sea level, in an enchanting setting between Mont-Blanc, Aravis and Beaufortain.
It was in 1936 that an Austrian instructor, Erwin Eckl, created the first hotel at the Col des Saisies and since then, the village of Les Saisies has continued to develop and a ski area was created from 1961. Nordic ski area only saw the light of day in 1965 when the first trails were created on the Col des Saisies.
Subsequently, in the 1980s, the cross-country ski resort experienced sustained development, scrupulously preserving the surrounding fauna and flora. In 1986, Albertville was chosen to host the 16th edition of the Winter Olympics in 1992, and it was in the Nordic area of Les Saisies that the cross-country skiing competitions were awarded.
