The history of the Megève Jazz Festival
From the first edition in March 2016, Megève has emerged as a hot-spot on the planet Jazz.
In front of more than a thousand spectators conquered each evening, energy, musical and vocal virtuosity were at the rendezvous. High-flying musicians ignited the packed room, accompanied by captivating voices like those of Mélodie Gardot or Stacey Kent. Manu Katché's drumming has vibrated like never before, the Italian Paolo Conte has offered the public jazzy ballads tinged with blues which he has the secret. Marcus Miller's bass feasted by sharing the stage with young Selah Sue and her reggae accents. Stunning solos and great standards have been hailed by standing ovations.
The streets also lived to the rhythm of jazz thanks to the festival Off with open and very happy After Jazz scenes which resounded until the tracks from morning to evening. The Gospel for 100 voices has masterfully concluded this first edition on the square in front of a filled audience. Since its inception, the Megève festival has revealed jazz in all its forms, served by talent from around the world. A success !
International jazz stars and young talents
In 4 years, Jazz in Megève has become a reference. The exceptional programming that allows fans to listen live to world-renowned artists is for something. In the warm atmosphere that always accompanies this musical style and since the creation of the festival, Eddy Mitchell and Gregory Porter, Macy Gray and Norah Jones among others have delighted the public.
In 2019, the incomparable Dee Dee Bridgewater attracted the crowds, sharing the bill with the young Kimberose, revelation with soulful voice and dazzling success. The closing party was entrusted to Thomas Dutronc and his Manouche Spirits delighted to find Megeve under the snow.
Jazz is alive and well, innovative and to prove it, the organizers have opened a scene reserved for young talents, the Jamy, which allowed four groups: Bakos, Free River, Anthony Jambon Group and Edmond Bilal Band to ensure the first part of Kimberose's concert. For this evening, the tickets at the rate of € 15 have allowed many to discover jazz.
Off festival side, the concerts brightened the streets with among others, the Chaupiques Brassband who had already had a great success in 2017.
